Wild Blue Dreams
Today is International Women’s Day, it is also the birthday of one of my favourite people in the world.
She is a bad ass entrepreneur and I’m mildly obsessed with her fabulous Gluten Free baked goods (Go to The Wild Blue Bakery immediately, I’ll wait here)
So for her birthday, and in celebration of strong women running their own shit - I made her a cocktail - A Wild Blue Dream.
Rikki and I bonded quickly over so many things, snarky senses of humour, party planning, and MFM to name just a few, and it wasn’t until well into our friendship we realized that a Gin and Soda was also the go to drink for both of us. So this is a gin and soda… but it’s party so I amped it up a bit.
I started with Blueberries, a tribute to the Wild Blue, and then added some crystalized ginger.
Guys, listen. Ginger cookies hit the top of my cookie flavour list every day of the week, and I am a lucky person who is capable of eating gluten without it destroying my body, but when the Ginger Cookies from Wild Blue Bakery are so unbelievably good… why would anyone eat a ginger cookie with gluten in it.
So here’s what’s in it.
2 oz Gin
Juice of half a lemon + a broad strip of lemon zest
1/4 cup blueberries
Candied Ginger
Soda Water
Ice
I threw the ginger, lemon juice and zest, blueberries, gin, and ice into a cocktail shaker.
Shake it up until the blueberries break open and the drink becomes a lovely purple colour, strain into a glass and top with soda water.
